3.Activities


Our objectives are to research technology and management of the disposal of cremation ashes which came from crematories, to educate private companies to manage cremation ashes and to take an awareness campaign of this problem and solution. As a result, the people's living environment will be protected, public health will improve, and then we will be able to contribute to our society.

Furthermore, according to Article 1 of the Graveyards and Burials Act of Japanese law, it says that the way of burial and management shall match people's religious susceptibilities. Therefore, we must respect decedent's dignity and bereaved family's feeling, and we will promote to set a final burial place. Also, we cooperate on "Resident service", which means the greatest goal of the administrative body.

JEMA has been operating the following.

1."Direction"

1. About the treatment of cremation ashes.

According to the Section 1 Article 1 of the Graveyards and Burials Act of Japanese law, the way of burial, and the management of graveyards, charnel house, and crematory shall suit people's religious susceptibilities. Also, they shall operate without hindrance at the point of public health and public welfare. Therefore, we shall observe these related laws and regulations.
Furthermore, we especially focus on "people's religious susceptibilities". Our activities are based on guaranteeing calm and protection against them, we significantly respect decedent's dignity, we politely treat cremation ashes at the point of humanely and moral as well as remains. Finally, we bury cremation ashes after holding a memorial service.

2. About collection and delivery.

To prevent cremation ashes from scattering while delivering, we basically use a box-like wagon to deliver them. Also, if we use other cars, we certainly use a cover to prevent scattering.

3. About storing.

"Storing" means storing cremation ashes temporarily at the processing facilities. We consider people's religious susceptibilities and public health, so we shall store them inside of the room.

4. About processing.

There are three types of processing cremation ashes, which are dry processing, wet processing, and heat processing. We require workers to use a mask, dust-proof workwear. Also, we consider preventing scattering cremation ashes.

2."Education"

1. Seminars of a religious viewpoint.

Cremation ashes are very important at the point of people's religious susceptibilities. We invite some specialists and hold seminars of treatment of cremation ashes at religious viewpoint several times a year.

2. Periodic seminar.

Recently, the internet has been improving, and a lot of information has been spreading. However, there is only little information about our industry on the internet because it has not circulated in our industry. Therefore, to exchange information for companies, we invite ministries, agencies, and municipalities, and we periodically hold seminars which deliver the way of treatment of cremation ashes to our members.

3. Seminars of processing technology for modernization.

Actually, there is no definition of proper processing of cremation ashes. Also, cremation ashes have views of holiness remains and waste. Therefore, we keep in mind for surviving family and environment-friendly, and we periodically hold seminars of processing technology for modernization to improve technology.

4. The attitude at the picking.

A crematory is the last place of farewell. We carefully consider the feeling of surviving families while we are operating. Also, in picking cremation ashes up, we conform to the rules of etiquette, and we significantly respect a decedent and surviving family.

3."Action"

1. Intermediate processing, facilities, and other action.

We require workers to use a mask and dust-proof workwear to protect from dust collector and a scald from materials of cart protection. Also, we periodically check in member's facilities by the third party.

2. The action of final processing.

Generally, final processing in our industry means burial in a final graveyard, doing a memorial service permanently, and detoxifying ashes by processing of heating and melting.

4."Awareness campaign"

1. About a criterion for selection of the business operator.

It is very easy to enter into this industry so that the number of business operators has been dramatically increasing. Therefore, we insist that ministries, agencies, and municipalities should set and reconsider a criterion for the selection of the business operator. Also, we appeal that they should use the nearest graveyard as a part of resident service.

2. Bidding system for purchase.

A municipality is paid for a cremation service by a surviving family, and a municipality earns money from a sales of cremation ashes. We insist that this does ignore people's religious susceptibilities, so we also insist that municipalities should abolish the bidding system for purchase of cremation ashes.

3. Emergency action at the time of disaster.

At the time of disasters such as an earthquake and typhoon, we observe the direction of the government and municipalities. Also, we coordinate with our members, and we consider if some graveyards are not available because of disaster, we will use our member's. Our objective in a disaster is a relief and recovery of disaster, so we make every exertion.
